Dear IHGA Members,
My name is Dr. Megan Styles, and I am an Associate Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Illinois Springfield. I am conducting a research study to understand why Illinois farmers choose to grow hemp, the challenges farmers face when growing hemp, how farmers acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to grow hemp, and what resources are necessary to help hemp farmers succeed in this industry. My UIS students are also working with me on this project.
We are looking for people 18 years of age or older who are involved in hemp production in Illinois as farmers or in supporting roles (e.g., policy makers, program managers, extension agents, and researchers). We would like to invite you to participate in the study.
If you volunteer to participate, we would like to interview you in person. The interview will last about an hour and can take place at your home, office, or in another place of your choosing. Questions will focus on your involvement in the hemp industry, the challenges farmers face, how farmers manage risks and make decisions, and what can be done to make the industry more sustainable and successful.
If you are interested in volunteering for the study and/or have any questions, please email (mstyl2@uis.edu) or call me at 217-502-3689. I look forward to hearing from you!
Thank you for considering this request.
